# Dropbox

> Let your assistants search and read the files in your Dropbox account. Read only, through Dropbox's own hosted connector. Coming soon.

Status: Coming soon

Dropbox is where many people keep receipts, drafts, and shared folders. Once you connect it, your assistants can search your files and read them, so their work starts from the real documents.

> [!SOON]
> The Dropbox integration is Coming soon. This page describes how it will work. The integrations open at launch are GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.

## Which assistants use it

| Assistant | Status |
| --- | --- |
| [Accountant](/docs/personas/accountant) | Coming soon |
| [Marketing](/docs/personas/marketing) | Coming soon |
| [Legal](/docs/personas/legal) | Coming soon |

None of these personas is open yet. The Coder is the only persona available today, and it does not list Dropbox.

## What assistants can do

Dropbox connects through the tool's own hosted connector, and it is read only.

| Ability | How it runs |
| --- | --- |
| Search files | Reads on its own |
| Read file contents | Reads on its own |
| Save, move, or change a file | Never run from chat |

## Setup (when it opens)

1. In Dropbox, open the developer console and create an app.
2. Generate an access token with permission to read file details and file contents. Leave write permissions off.
3. Open [Integrations](https://stellarfirm.ai/app/integrations) in StellarFirm.
4. Pick Dropbox.
5. Paste the token, switch on the live option, and press Connect.

## Permissions

- The assistants can read what the token allows and nothing more. A token without write permission cannot change a file even by mistake.
- Nothing here waits for an Approve because nothing here changes data. Saving to Dropbox is never run from chat.
- Revoke the token in Dropbox whenever you want to cut access.

## Good to know

- Ask for a finished result, such as "a summary by vendor", rather than a raw dump of every file.
- Name the folder or the month in your message to keep searches narrow.
- Sibling tools: [Box](/docs/integrations/box) and [Egnyte](/docs/integrations/egnyte) work the same way, and Google Drive is covered on its [own page](/docs/integrations/google-drive).

## Prompts to try

```prompt title="Summarise receipts"
Accountant, find last month's receipts in Dropbox and summarise them by vendor.
```

```prompt title="Find brand assets"
Marketing, find the latest logo and brand guidelines in Dropbox and list what each file is for.
```

```prompt title="Check a document"
Legal, find the NDA with [company] in Dropbox and list the term, the parties, and any renewal date.
```
